Water Water - the miracle healer!

Tap Water We all know that these days it is recommended that we “drink more water”, but do you know why? Do you know, for example, that your body is made up of 75% water and that your brain is 85% water? And do you also know that water is essential to the proper functioning of every single cell in your body? Here at the Alternative we know, because we have read and digested the results of twenty-plus years of research into water by Dr Fereydoon Batmanghelidj – known as Dr Batman.

Dr Fereydoon Batmanghelidj author of Your Body's Many Cries for WaterDr Batman was an Iranian who undertook his medical training at London University and was actually one of the last students of Sir Alexander Fleming (the discoverer of penicillin). After qualifying as a doctor, he returned to Tehran and practiced medicine. In 1979, during the revolution, Dr Batman was dispossessed of all his belongings and imprisoned. He was only saved from death so that he could treat the illnesses of his fellow prisoners … but he had no drugs.

The only thing that Dr Batman had to give these people was plain tap water. And do you know what he discovered? People got better with just water. Dr Batman states that in his 2 years 7 months of imprisonment he cured over 3,000 cases of peptic ulcer with just water. He was as mystified as anyone else would be at this discovery and on his release from prison in 1982, he dedicated himself to researching the role of water in the functioning of the human body.

Research into Water In the course of his research, Dr Batman identified that many of the modern “diseases of unknown origin” can be attributed to Chronic Unintentional Dehydration. Among these conditions are: obesity; coronary thrombosis; osteoporosis; osteoarthritis; high blood pressure; heart failure; and diabetes. He also established that, in many cases, curing the underlying dehydration resulted in a significant improvement in these conditions.

Dr Batman’s discoveries fit very well with one of the fundamental beliefs of homeopathy - that with the correct resources and stimulants, the body can self-heal.

How do we become Dehydrated? So how do we allow ourselves to become dehydrated?

  • Because we don’t recognise our bodies’ ‘Many cries for water1 – do you know that a dry mouth is the absolute last symptom of Chronic Unintentional Dehydration?

  • Also, most of us don’t realise how much water we lose each day through breathing, perspiring and going to the toilet. In fact, as a minimum, we lose 6-8 glasses of water per day.

How can we Rehydrate? How can we put this right?

  • It’s simple! “Drink more water.” At least 6-8 glasses per day.

  • Make a routine of it like this:

*   2 glasses first thing in the morning, on waking, to correct the natural dehydration that occurs overnight;
*   1 glass ½ an hour before each main meal;
*   1 glass ½ an hour after each main meal to aid the digestion process;
*   1 glass before bed.

Coffee and bear in mind …

  • alcohol, coffee and tea are diuretics – this means for each glass or mug of these that you drink, you will excrete 1½ glasses or mugs – so drink additional water when you drink tea, coffee or alcohol;

  • always drink a glass of water before exercise;

  • drink water at any other time when you feel thirsty – even while you are eating food;

  • water washes salt out of the body and salt is also essential for healthy cell function so, when you have increased your water intake to 6-8 glasses per day, add half a teaspoon of salt into your daily diet.2
